Pet Insurance for
Cocker Spaniels

The second most popular dog in the UK, the Cocker Spaniel is believed to have originated in Spain.

With silky, smooth fur and a happy disposition, this dog is popular with families and makes a good, loyal pet. These dogs love to play and catch and enjoy regular exercise.

Purebred Cocker Spaniels are generally very healthy dogs, although their ears are prone to infection and they may also be at risk of heart murmurs.

Finding Pet Insurance which cares for your dog from puppyhood to adulthood is important as you want to know your four-legged friend has long-term cover.

Cocker Spaniel Case Study

Did you know...?

  • Cocker Spaniels are the favourite breed at Crufts, winning Best in Show seven times since 1928.
  • Sales of Cocker Spaniels have soared 50% since the Duchess of Cambridge chose one for her new companion.

Caring for your Cocker Spaniel

Although Cocker Spaniels aren’t constant shedders, brushing them every day will help to minimise fur loss. If you keep their fur long, you should have it trimmed every few weeks to keep it in good condition.

Clean your dog’s eyes and ears regularly, as Cocker Spaniels can suffer from eye and ear problems when they’re older.

It’s also important to socialise your Cocker Spaniel, as if they’re not used to company they can act shy around strangers.
