Pet Insurance for Pugs

Cute and inquisitive, pugs are perfect if you’re a bit of a couch potato, or don’t mind carrying your dog around.

Pugs aren’t exercise freaks, but do enjoy clowning around to get your attention and don’t seem to mind being dressed up in crazy costumes.

They’re also extremely loving dogs and get along well with children.

Their small nose and flat face do put them at risk of breathing problems and they’re also quite sensitive to heat.

Make sure your Pug has a long and happy life by choosing an insurer who will take care of your dog from puppyhood until their old age.

Pug Particulars

Did you know...?

  • There’s evidence to suggest that Pugs have been around since 400 BC when they were bred by Chinese royalty.
  • Pugs were also popular among European royalty, owned by Marie Antoinette, William III and Queen Victoria.
  • Pugs have featured in several films including Men in Black and Pocahontas.
  • Pugs have been described as multum in parvo (much in little) as this small dog has a huge personality.

Caring for your Pug

Pugs are quite small dogs, but they do enjoy eating. As they don’t like a lot of exercise, it’s important to monitor their diet, as an overweight Pug is more likely to suffer from breathing problems.

You won’t need to bathe your Pug too often, but they do need their faces cleaned regularly to avoid infection and irritation in their wrinkles.

Despite their short fur, these dogs moult an awful lot, so brush your Pug regularly to avoid too much shedding and to keep their skin healthy and their coat glossy.
