When it comes to a big event there's a variety of things that might go wrong. Event Insurance covers problems such as cancellation, damage to equipment and injury to guests.
The cost will depend on the size and scope of the event, as well as the insurance company you choose. Each policy is different and you should look for one that suits the event you're holding.
What type of events are covered?
Event Insurance can usually only be taken out to cover events where guests are invited and do not have to pay to attend. For example, John Lewis Event Insurance can cover:
- Birthday party
- Wedding anniversary
- Engagement party
- Bar Mitzvah
- Bat Mitzvah
- Baby Shower
- Family party
- Retirement party
- Private parties
Events that are more commercial, specifically ones where payment is to be taken, would not usually be covered. For example, a sporting event, a barn dance or village fetes.
