Travel Insurance: product features

Travel Insurance can protect you from the unexpected if your holiday doesn't quite go to plan. But with so many options, it can be confusing to know what you need.

To make things a little easier, we’ve explained some of the key features and benefits of our Travel Insurance and why you might need them. So next time you’re planning a trip, choosing your travel insurance will be the easy part.

Sporting holidays

We offer wide-ranging cover for a selection of activities, including winter sports, golfing holidays and ‘hazardous activities’. If you’re planning a skiing or snowboarding holiday, it’s important to make sure that your travel insurance covers you.

Single Trip vs Annual Multi-Trip

If you’re only planning one holiday in a year then a Single-Trip policy may be the best option. With John Lewis Travel Insurance this means that you’re covered for one holiday up to six months long.

If you’re planning more than one holiday in a year then it may be more economical to buy an Annual Multi-Trip policy. This gives you cover for one year and covers trips during that period as long as they're under 31 days. If you'd like to extend your trip for either 45 or 60 days, you can choose our optional Extended Trip Cover.

Travel Advice

Wherever you’re heading for your holiday, we’ll always be on the end of the phone if you need us. We offer a 24 hour Travel Advice Line you can call for help with anything from a lost passport to a medical emergency.

Medical expenses

With John Lewis Travel Insurance, you get cover forMedical Expenses up to £10 million. Our experienced team of medical professionals will ensure payment for necessary treatment.

Cover for medical conditions

John Lewis Travel Insurance can cover a wide variety of existing medical conditions as long as you tell us about them when you take out your policy. Many policies won’t cover you for an existing medical condition so it's important to check your cover before you travel.

Cover for your family

With John Lewis Travel Insurance, your family is covered. This will provide cover for two adults and any number of their children, stepchildren or foster children aged under 18 (or aged under 22 if in full-time education).

Adults covered under the policy can travel either together or separately. A child covered under the policy can travel without the insured adults, but only if they’re travelling under the supervision of an adult who’s responsible for their care for the length of the trip.

Business Travel

Both Single Trip and Annual Multi-Trip Cover will automatically cover you while you’re away from home on a business trip.

Technology Cover

If you carry several gadgets while you're travelling you need to make sure that they're all covered. Our Technology Cover allows you to increase your single article limit to £1,500 to protect them all. It covers:

  • Audio and visual equipment
  • Photographic equipment
  • Computer equipment
  • Sports equipments
  • Watches

Other things to check before you buy:

Though all policies differ, it's also important to get cover for eventualities like cancellation, lost luggage, passports and money. John Lewis Travel Insurance covers all of these.

  • Cancellation cover
John Lewis Travel Insurance provides up to £8,000 cover per person for costs resulting from having to cancel your holiday.
  • Travelling while pregnant
If you're pregnant you should always speak to your insurance company before you travel. Contact us on 0800 953 2552 to speak with one of our representatives.
  • Single items
Both your travel and home contents policies will have single item limits. These vary among different providers. John Lewis Home Insurance and John Lewis Travel Insurance provide cover to ensure your valuables are protected.
